Additional ingredients

Selected ingredients give Kaiser candies
their taste, effect and look.

The valuable ingredients used include:

  • Honey
Filled honey candies are a Kaiser speciality – and not without reason. That’s because honey is not only a natural sweetener but also beneficial to health.

  • Herbs (extracts), flavours and (essential) oils
Herbs are one of the most important constituents of Kaiser throat and cough candies. Their careful selection and combination ensure their soothing action.

However, the essential oils we use also contribute significantly to their effect. Such oils are of vegetable origin, such as peppermint oil, for example.

  • Fruits, flavours and oils
Fruit products characterise Kaiser Fruchtkrone candies, for example, which are also filled with fine fruit purée containing a high percentage of fruit. However, oils derived from fruits, e.g. oil of lemon, are also used in Kaiser candies.

  • Vitamins
Vitamins are found in basic foods such as fruit and vegetables, as well as in other foods. On their own or in combination with other vitamins or micronutritients, they are responsible for vital bodily functions.
At the moment, Kaiser mainly uses vitamin C in some selected candies. However, vitamins B1, B2, B6, E and pantothenic acid are also sometimes used.

  • Food colourings and natural food dyes
The natural food dyes used are mainly extracts from foods which have a colourant effect, e.g. spinach. The food colourings used are either food additives of a vegetable origin, e.g. chlorophyll, synthetically-reproduced colourings or completely synthetic colourants. Approximately 40 different food colourings are currently authorised for consumption.
